Goooo Bananas!
What’s better than playing Air Guitar? Playing Air Guitar dressed as a Banana, of course! And that’s exactly what went down at Willy Street Co-op’s Annual Meeting and Party last Thursday. We sadly couldn’t be in our neighbor state to go B-A-N-A-N-A-S, but we did get to design the poster for this a’peel’ing challenge! And, as always, mad props to Luke Mills for being such a badass banana.
We recently had the pleasure of branding our neighbors, 3 Tiers Bakery Bistro, and Craig and Lucas got down to it installing the new graphics on their windows today. It’s worth it to stop by and check ’em out, perhaps as you savor the highly-recommended and wonderfully-paired Flying Dog IPA and Meatloaf Sandwich…
This just in – the Joia website went live today! Check it out here!
Lately we’ve had the true joia of partnering with Boundary Waters Brands to help name and brand their new line of all natural soda. Joia All Natural Soda is a tantalizing combination of fruits, herbs and spices that creates layers of intensely fresh flavor for a wonderfully refreshing beverage. The four flavors offered are Grapefruit Chamomile & Cardamom, Lime Hibiscus & Clove, Blackberry Pomegranate & Ginger, and Pineapple Coconut & Nutmeg… and let us just say, they are all as good as they sound!
Check out this recent write-up in the Southwest Journal.
And don’t forget to try Joia for yourself!! Find it at The Wedge, Linden Hills Co-op, French Meadow Bakery, Cuppa Joe, Whole Foods or Lunds.
Well it’s official – McNally Smith is the first paying Big Table Studio client! They commissioned BTS to design this poster for their Bringin’ It Back Music Festival in Mears Park on July 9th from 3-10pm. And guess what… the music fest is free! No good sense in passing that up, now is there?
Thanks to McNally Smith for being awesome.
The word is officially out on a triumvirate of businesses to hit downtown St. Paul towards the end of the summer! Amsterdam Bar and Hall will be a music venue run by the owners of 331 club, and flanking Amsterdam on either side will be the resurrected Eclipse Records and a new poster-art studio called Big Table Studio.
We’re particularly excited here at Spunk because our very own JJ and our good friend Peet Fetsch have joined forces to create Big Table Studio, a dynamic poster studio where designers will create, display, and sell some pretty rad posters.
Read more here. We’ll let you know when it’s officially open!

Process: Woodgrain Bike Frames from Etsy on Vimeo.
Check out the latest Etsy film that showcases Rob Pollack using his lifetime of auto body experience to woodgrain a bike frame. The idea came from his son Aaron, good friend to Spunk (he designed the Spunk logo way back when). We’ve had both Rob and Aaron in the canoes here in Minneapolis. The video is great and Rob’s finished product is gorgeous!
