CopyCock

I’m toying with the idea of starting a side company totally dedicated to commercial copywriting called “CopyCock”. If not a new company, then maybe a cable tv show about the fall of advertising in the first decade of the 21st century. Or maybe just a little off-broadway one act about a neurotic, but lovable male copywriter and his foibles in the industry. Like an Ally McBeal for men, except everyone eats.

Print my Zappa!

With the rapid expansion around the spunk shop
we had to make some mofo upgrades on the server,
This led the necessity to rename the new 2tb server (now “Angee”
in honor of my founding Spunk partner Angee Hagen.)
and rename the printers.

We finally abandoned the printer naming protocol of dead rap stars.
We were running low on the body count surpassingly.
“Biggie, Tupac, Left Eye, Tupac resurrected.”
All the good ones we had used. Also We thought
i might be bad karma to continue.

We have instead choses a new naming protocol for the printers.

Frank Zappa’s kids names.

The printer names for the shop are now

“Moon Unit”
“Dweezil”
“Diva Muffin”

A new era has dawned.

George Clooney Man Class

i think george clooney should
teach “man classes” around the country

he could tell teen age boys not to get married until
well into their 40’s – maintain lifelong friendships
with other men – how to hang out with brad pitt,
basketball pointers – sort of a real life boy scouts
meeting, except with cocktails and stories about
movies sets and historically progressive american
political milestones. Who can we contact to
get this ball rolling?

Canoe Season Begins!

Last night marked the official start of the Cedar Lake canoe season. Jim Brakken and I brought out the canoe to the Cedar lake racks in Minneapolis. Thursday night is now the sacrosanct canoe night – between ice out and ice in. Jim also brings home the prize for going along on this year’s ice breaker canoe run. which we did 3 weeks ago.

Menu:

Ice breaker Run: No snacks sadly, but after breaking ice on Hiawatha, Jim and I paddled the Minnehaha Creek down to Sea Salt just before the Minnehaha Falls for Summit Beer and clam chowder. A good mix.

Canoe Opener: Sadly no snacks in the boat, but we did have a 6 pack of Stella Artois. 5 of the 6 consumed. We compensated for no snacks by running over the “The Nook” in St. Paul for burgers the size of infants. Bonus!!! for switching tables with a larger group, Jim and I each got a comped can of Miller High life!! The Champagne of Beers.

Spunk wins Art Directors Club

Well Boy Howdy!
We had never entered the prestigious Art Directors Club before, and looks like we were honored with an ADC award for the poster design we did for our rad clients at the University of Minnesota Dance Program. Right on! You can see what the Art Directors Club is all about here http://www.adcglobal.org/

Big ups to the University of Minnesota for being such right on design partners.

Obailey vs. McPotter

I DREAM of an Obama vs. McCain face off for 2008.
Only for the opportunity to design an “Obailey vs. McPotter” t-shirt using the faces of George Bailey and Mr. Potter from “It’s a Wonderful Life”.
